The Formby Civic Society was founded in I953 to preserve the identity of Formby, safeguard its amenities, develop its cultural activities and encourage local studies. It is active in local Civic affairs and planning issues. A Quarterly Newsletter keeps members informed of events and activities. Previous publications include 'Discovering Formby’. For more information see www.formbycivicsociety.org.uk There are Summer and Winter programmes of meetings, events and visits open to all members, special interest groups cater for Local History and Art General meetings cover the Winter season from the end of September to the beginning of April, held on the 4th Friday of each month. The History Group meets on the 1st Thursday of each month. For details of Art Group meetings see the members’ Newsletter. Summertime events are also arranged. Meetings are held in Ravenmeols Community Centre, Park Road Formby and unless otherwise stated start at 8pm and finish approx.10pm. Further general enquiries; please contact Secretary, D.
